We love our nursery! Not just because of the functional items in it but because it is such a calm and inviting space that we love spending time in as a family. We used the nursery throughout the day essentially initially after Poppy came home. She slept in the bassinet in the master bedroom for the first few months but I preferred to breastfeed her during the night in the rocker as our room is not large and it gave me a separate space to be to ensure I was awake and alert enough to safely feed her. It built a wonderful foundation for feelings of comfort for her in “her room” and provided me much needed comfort too.

Here’s the list – my favorite nursery items:

Babyletto Hudson 3 in 1 Convertible Crib. We love this crib. There is a reason it is the top of every list. It is great quality, has 4 matress height options and is a nice size. Bonus, it is overall lower to the ground and great for short parents (like us). It also comes with additional side rails to later convert it to a toddler bed. We choose walnut but it comes in many color options.

Babyletto Pure Core Crib Mattress. We like this a lot too. It has a firm side for infants under 12 months and a softer size as they grow. The cover is really good quality but one downside is that it takes a long time to dry after washing which can be frustrating in the middle of the night or between naps.

Fitted Crib Sheets. This is a matter of personal preference and price point. Some of our favorite crib sheets are those from Pottery Barn Kids and Burt’s Bees. Style and your preferred material are major factors here. I recommend at having least 3 sheets total.

Rocking Chair – Babyletto Kiwi Electronic Recliner and Swivel Glider. We LOVEEE this chair. This was the nursery item we did the most research on for sure. This chair is perfect. It’s compact and fits in a small space, it’s an electronic recliner (which was a must for me as I knew it’d be hard to open and close a manual chair postpartum) and it swivels. I was worried about it being cloth at first but it has been very durable.

Ikea Kallax Storage Cube. We love these cubes. It allows for great diverse storage that baby can access as well as another horizontal surface to set essential items. And they are so reasonably priced in many size options to fit your space. We purchase our bins from target but the options are endless.

Keekaroo Peanut Changing Pad. This product is great. It is so easy to wipe down and keep clean. It eliminates another item that needs to be washed frequently. It is a bit pricey, but compared to a traditional pad and a few covers – it is completely worth it for the less hassle it brings.

Munchkin Diaper Pail. Diaper trashcans are one of those items that are all “okay” and there is no clear winner. This one is easy to use, the refills are efficient and not expensive and the smells are properly contained. The Dekor Diaper Pail is also nice.

Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine. We love this sound machine. It has controls directly on it and an easy to use app (that actually works). It has many sound and color varieties, a wide array of volume and brightness settings and is very customizable with easy preset options.

Motorola Baby Monitor. We like our baby monitor. It is nothing fancy but does work and reliability is what is most important. It has audio and camera options with a monitor screen that is easy to carry and does not rely on using a cell phone or wifi (which can be a complication and a hassle in some situations). Regardless of what monitor you end up with, if you need help adjusting the angle to view baby properly, try these camera mounts. As another option, this Infant Optics monitor is used by many and has great reviews as well.

Humidifier

Ceiling Fan. I highly recommend a ceiling fan in the room for temperature control and air circulation for baby. Additionally, there are thoughts that it may aid in decreasing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
